Give your child the skills to thrive, no matter what life throws at them

At the heart of what I do is inspire young people to live a happy life, equipped with the skills to make good choices, no matter what challenges they are faced with.

Perhaps you’re worried that your child seems sad, or is acting out, and you're not quite sure why? With no challenge too big or small, mnon-judgemental and friendly approach allows children to quickly warm to me and achieve positive, long-lasting results. In addition to coaching children aged 8 to 18, I also work one-to-one with parents to provide professional support on any parenting challenges you are experiencing.

NB: My one-to-one child coaching sessions are fully booked for the next three months. If you would like to join my waiting list please get in touch.

How can I support you?

One-to-one child coaching in person or virtually

My fun one-to-one coaching programmes are uniquely tailored according to your child's needs and always underpinned by proven theories and the latest know-how. You will fill in an introductory questionnaire on all aspects of your child's life and this will be followed up with a complimentary parent consultation via Zoom. Once you choose to go ahead I will get to work on designing a personalised programme to help your child thrive.

Small group coaching in Surrey secondary schools

I run Happy Kids Coach® programmes in secondary schools for small groups of students. These consist of one-to-one sessions with each student at the beginning and end of the programme, along with group sessions in the middle that are tailored to the needs of each group. We cover a wide range of topics from realistic optimism and inner drive to happiness habits and communication skills. If you think your teenager would benefit from this, please pass my details onto your child's headteacher.

One-to-one parent support in person or virtually

Parenting is challenging at the best of times. Do you have a parenting worry that is keeping you up at night? For example, perhaps you have concerns over your child’s lack of confidence, anger, unhealthy habits, or lack of motivation. I will work with you to come up with a number of practical solutions specific to your child or teenager. All of the information and action plans will be packaged up and sent to you so you can refer back to it when required.

 Frequently asked questions

  • Does my child really need a coach?

Happy Kids Coach® programmes provide an extra layer of support for your child. As parents we want to protect our children, but unfortunately life throws unexpected challenges at us along the way. Coaching gives peace of mind that your child will be able to deal with challenges positively by making good choices.

It has been proven that resilience, emotional intelligence, positivity, confidence and social skills are the key ingredients to a happy, fulfilling life. Happy Kids Coach® programmes give young people the tools to take care of their mental health, develop a healthy sense of self and to choose a positive outlook on life.

  • Is my child too young for coaching?

Child coaching is very different to both teen and adult coaching. It is fun, interactive and centred around play. I specialise in coaching young people from 8 to 18 and adapt my programmes accordingly.

Most of our self-limiting beliefs are formed at an early age, so giving children the skills to reframe these and work on building a healthy belief system has huge benefits.

If you feel your child will struggle with virtual coaching, or you would like to talk to me one-to-one, I also offer parent support.

  • What theories is your coaching based on?

I graduated with a first-class psychology degree, specialising in developmental, cognitive, forensic and work psychology. To build on this knowledge I have undergone intensive training based on the six theories of:

    1. Cognitive behavioural therapy: how we think about a situation and how this affects the way we act
    2. Neuro-linguistic programming: how our mind thinks and how our behaviour can be positively modified and improved
    3. Social psychology: how a person's attitudes and behaviour are influenced by social groups
    4. Positive psychology: how we can be happier and more fulfilled
    5. Emotional intelligence: how our emotions drive our behaviour, their impact on others, and how we can manage emotions
    6. Life coaching: how to make, meet and exceed personal goals

Learning never stops. I am an active member of the Kids Life Studio® Network, The Coaching Academy and the South East Coaching Group to test my knowledge and ensure I have all the latest industry know-how at my fingertips.

  • What is included in one-to-one child and parent support packages?

Preparation is the key to great coaching results! I need to have a good understanding of your child's needs and how you would like me to help. I will then tailor-make your child's programme to ensure we get the best results.

    One-to-one child coaching includes:

    • Happy Kids Coach® introductory questionnaire and analysis
    • Introductory parent consultation via Zoom
    • Individual programme designed to suit your child's needs - typically six to eight weekly coaching sessions
    • Toolkit bag for your child to keep which includes all the tangible tools and activities they have learnt
    • Weekly experiments for your child to practise at home
    • Regular feedback and support to parents and other caregivers such as teachers and occupational therapists (when required)

    One-to-one parent support includes:

    • Session 1: Discovery – An opportunity to learn more about your child and explore the challenge in detail
    • Session 2: Taking action – I will put together a personalised pack of solutions, techniques and activities. During the session we will walk through the pack so you are confident to try it out straightaway
    • Session 3: Looking forward – A chance to reflect on the success of the new techniques and whether there are any other areas you'd like to work on

  • Where are the sessions held?

The sessions can be held wherever is convenient for you and your child, whether virtually via Zoom or in person if you are based in Surrey or the surrounding areas.

  • How long is each session?

Session length varies between 35 and 45 minutes depending on the client's age and needs.

  • How long does it take to see positive changes?

In most cases you will start noticing changes in your child within a few sessions. The unique weekly challenges reinforce the skills learnt in the coaching sessions to support speedy results.

  • What results can I expect?

The specific outcomes are dependent on your child's needs, however, in all cases you should expect to see:

    1. Improved ability to handle stress and reduce anxiety
    2. Easier social interaction and communication
    3. A calmer, more focused approach
    4. Taking responsibility for their actions
    5. Increased motivation and happiness

A bit about me....

I have always been passionate about people. I graduated with a first-class degree in psychology and spent over a decade developing a career in strategy and project management, helping heavily disabled children and their families to experience life-changing mobility. Once my children were of school age I chose to follow my passion to train in kids life coaching. I am a Certified Positive Psychology Practitioner and have the latest certifications in Safeguarding Young People, Mental Wellbeing in Children, Raising Can-Do Children and First Aid. I have an enhanced DBS certificate and am an active member of The Coaching Academy and South East Coaching Group.

I’m a positive, empathetic, playful, incredibly patient mother of twins. I enjoy singing, getting outdoors and spending quality time with my friends and family. I'm looking forward to finding out more about how I can support you and your family.

Charlotte

What kids say...

Charlotte is very nice and listens to me. She gives me advice on how to focus on the things I can control. I am very happy I met her and sad I no longer need her.

Joshua, 9

I absolutely loved the sessions. I feel way more positive now and am actually excited about things. Thank you!

Seb, 10

Charlotte is kind and helpful and has helped me feel so much more confident. I’ve learnt to stop worrying about everything and focus on the things that matter.

Daisy, 10

Charlotte has shared so much wisdom with me which not only helps me, but my friends too. We weren't taught this stuff at school!

Maddy, 18

What parents say...

I cannot recommend Charlotte enough. She has helped my daughter no end since she struggled off the back of lockdown. But with Charlotte’s help she has managed to overcome a lot of her struggles, which has helped her and us all as a family.

Charlotte managed to build an amazing rapport with my daughter so she knew she had someone to talk to when she needed someone and also gives invaluable parent support.

Eloise, mother of Leah, 15

I got in touch with Charlotte to discuss her working with my son who was having a tough time with his emotions. I instantly felt comfortable with Charlotte on the phone and booked our first session.

My son thoroughly enjoyed each session and was counting down the days until the next one!

We will definitely be keeping in touch with Charlotte and have noticed a huge improvement in our son's emotions and how he deals with them. I would highly recommend Charlotte.

Beth, mother of Matthew, 9

Charlotte is a warm and generous person who connected easily with both our children. We initially engaged her for some anger management issues (for our boy, aged 8) but it developed into a wider remit with her passing on useful advice to me and my husband to support us as well as her helping my older child (girl, 11) as we dealt with the wider ripples that these emotional outbursts were causing to all the family.

We all benefited from her support and caring nature; the changes she helped us make and knowledge we gained from her on the journey have helped us a lot, thank you Charlotte.

Catherine, mother of Oscar and Sandy

Charlotte has helped my son control and use techniques to control his outbursts. He has grown in confidence and has learnt a lot about himself. I have also learnt a lot and different ways to talk to him so he will listen. Thank you Charlotte.

Karen, mother of Joshua, 9
